I have my lithium levels checked every few months. My pdoc gives me the lab orders that I take with me. Did he not give you lab orders to take with you? My husband's pdoc just writes it on a prescription pad. But I think you would have to have orders in writing from your pdoc to get it done. At least that's what we've always had to do. Otherwise I don't think insurance would cover it. Probably what you need to do is ask for the pdoc to write orders (can probably be faxed to the lab).
