yes! You are exactly right when you say the emotional part of it. It is just like that. I dont actually "see" visually the alters, but I find quite often a vision will enter my mind or image of that alter. Though, Id never thought about that making faces in the mirror and toiletries. Because I will quite often catch myself experiencing a memory or more so a...Feeling? and catch myself with a scrunched up face or even sometimes holding my body weirdly that I just cant explain.
