Switch, it looks kinda like you are seeking logical answers to a universal religiosity.
What your asking would be difficult for me to answer as a Christian. Proofs don't necessarily go hand in hand with faith. Faith is a mind felt and heart felt feeling.
I think my faith offers me "Peace" on the mental plain. Faith would not endanger me
or actually allow other lesser gods (actually I don't believe in lesser gods) to invade that peace of mind.
You are right about psychology not being a enthusiastic backer of religion. The reason I believe is because they see the confusion that it can cause people. If
we are stigmatized with guilt, earned or by victimization that we certainly HAVE not
earned, it is has negative consequences to the person and their thinking ability.
I know I searched and searched several years ago to convince myself that there
wasn't anything to believe in. I finally decided, for me at least, I needed that one
on one relationship with God/Jesus. I did pray for a healthy kind of faith, not a
fundamentalist approach, not an in-you-face approach that terrorizes/offends other believers. Just a steadfast, feet on the ground faith.
It would likely be advisable for you to discuss this with your T. Your talking about it
with someone might help you unscramble your thoughts on this.
I don't know that is what you had in mind for an answer for your post or not, but hope you figure this out for yourself. Hugs, bj
