I really think it's important to put aside personal opinions and strong beliefs on this forum...as it's a support forum for people of all sorts of varieties. I don't think we should be debating and arguing with people that are on the forum for emotional support for complex mental health issues.
Thanks for this post, I think its important to always be polite and understanding in replies on the forum - not judgemental. I always try to be polite and helpful; compassionate and understanding...instead of arguing or choosing not to reply simply because the poster has a different opinion to you or whatever.
However. I think some people do the right thing when they disagree - not replying. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. In some cases you should always voice YOUR argument...but not really as much on a forum like PsychCentral.
Another thing. Just because a treatment or medication did not work for you, it doesn't mean you have to be openly over-negative regarding it. Some things work better for others, unfortunately many are biased because a treatment didn't work for them. But that doesn't mean you should advise someone not to give it a try at all - or tell them a treatment "sucks".
