I normally am an introvert but like Healed84, I am paying for their help rather than to just sit there so I need to speak to get it. As a result I tend to be more extroverted during therapy pushing myself to make the most of it. It is important for me now though to find a T who is also going to make the most of it to help me and them listening the entire time, offering no feedback, is not going to cut it. There tends to be a good balance now though with the interaction with this current T as it is not a one-sided conversation; this is one of the first T's who adeptly will call me out on things, such as the b.s. or when I avoid things, or will make suggestions for better coping strategies, and despite the fact she is an introvert; T is not passively listening which I appreciate. The more I participate, the better off therapy goes even if it means going against my introverted nature.
