It can help to explain to friends why you may sometimes act differently. However, what may be even more helpful is to work on the internal communication, so you can explain to alters how their behavior may be hurting or helping you, and why.
Have you been able to communicate with your alt to find out why they are being rude, or lying? Maybe you can write them notes asking? Maybe leave these messages on the computer, if that is their primary means of communication?
