Ironically, I think the problem is that you suppressed it. For me, suppression usually allows the rage to build, rather than dissipate. I think the solution is to address the problem with the other person, as calmly as possible...in words. Unresponsive people drive me up the wall. Now when somebody is like that, I try to switch to a commanding, no-nonsense voice, a little louder than usual but not yelling and first of all say something like "HELLO, IS ANYBODY THERE?" or something like that. Or try to figure out what's got their attention and help them deal with it and get back to the present...with me.
And yes...going back to a T for this would probably help a lot.
