Depression can really mess with your mind and perceptions, that's the reason for the common advice to not make any major decisions while you are depressed. Sometimes, of course, it's necessary to make decisions during a depressive episode, but it's highly advisable to get good counsel first and, if possible, wait till the depression lifts at least a little.
