Sort of a misleading title, but I'm not quite sure what else to call it.

I read somewhere that if a psychologist uses outdated terminology (such as ADD) instead of new, DSM-V approved terminology (such as ADHD-PI) that means they are behind on research and should not be considered. Of course, I don't get this impression from her, but I'm completely clueless about this sort of therapy thing and I don't understand half the jargon thrown around here. :P

So, in your experience, do psychologists who use the term "ADD" seem less experienced or less informed than psychologists who use "ADHD-PI"? I honestly feel like it's just nitpicking, and she said "ADD" because it's less of a mouthful (and a more commonly known term than ADHD-PI).
Thanks for this!
