Yes, IcecreamKid is right, your emotional problems should be going to a therapist. I think you're transferring those needs to your prof. that a therapist usually stands in for.
It's nice to feel someone gets you, but the prof. is not trained to handle this. Don't mess with his life and yours, it can as I think you know, only lead to problems for both of you.
