Does your T ever explore with you your motives for apologizing? My T and I have entered that territory and it has been a fruitful topic for discussion. Nonetheless, if I feel like I might have crossed boundaries or talked too much or said something wrong, etc - I still feel compelled to apologize. But she doesn't let me get away with it completely. We immediately discuss my feelings.
