Hello & Welcome, Hopefor2012!
Yes, you are in a scary, traumatic place. In effect, you are fighting two battles at once -- psychological and vocational. How to distribute your limited personal resources between those two struggles is an important issue.
In some ways the psychological battle is the more critical. Losing that battle means you'll have little or no resilience to pursue the vocational. On the other hand, a vocational victory may mean a psychological victory, too.
Do what you need to build the resilience necessary to pursue your career goals. That may mean general counseling, or psychological, or vocational, or...?
What are your ideas?
