I do trust him, but I dont want someone to have my life in their hands. He siad maybe we could make it so he has less rights.. The lady said it is the wrong document for what we are trying to achieve. My Dad strongly disagrees.
I have the best parents in the world, by the way.
But I could use all the support I can get. Thanks again!!!

here in NY if you are not in a psychotic episode and are taking care of your self properly the courts will not appoint you a guardian if you object. they only do that if you have a history as an adult of not taking care of yourself and repeatedly go into psychotic episodes and are a danger to yourself or others..
on the other hand you can go to court and tell the court why you would like your father to remain your guardian after you turn 18 and what things you would like him to have control over and what things you dont want him to have control over. as long as you are not a danger to yourself, others and are not suffering a psychotic event during the time you are going through the court hearings the courts here side with the mentally ill person by giving them a chance to set things up before a crisis happens.
