I can relate to this. I found out I was ADHD when I was really young, but my family didn't do anything about. When I was a teenager I had to be diagnosed again, but none of the T's thought I had it because I was a honors student. I couldn't exactly tell them that I had an alter that wouldn't let me do badly in school and helped me cope with the problems that ADHD caused in daily life.

There were also times when I had to take breaks from school due to family emergencies that had my teachers baffled. They were surprised that I was able to keep up even though I was ADHD, missing half my lessons and going through what they considered to be really difficult times.

I'm grateful that I can cope with difficult situations, but I never know how to respond when someone inquires about it. I always end up fumbling my answer and passing it off as a bad joke. Just once I'd like to be able to answer honestly.
