From my vantage point, I will say no. I think we confuse "
Lust and
Like at first sight" for "
Love." What I've gained from my romantic relationships is that it takes time (maybe even years) to really get to know someone and truly love them. Even then, what one "feels" and "thinks" is "love" keeps morphing into something less or more as time goes by. Having said this, I did and still do love some of the men who have graced my life, but no longer in a romantic sense. The only thing that is constant is that feelings and situations change with time.
As for everyone having a soul-mate...well, I could say we have many soul-mates who connect with us on many levels: emotional, intellectual, physical, creative, etc. Once upon a time, I thought I was with my one and only soul-mate, but that, too, morphed into something different than what I originally had in mind...I will just leave it at that since he's not here to defend himself. :-)
Nevertheless, I do still believe in love, and the old cliche that "
'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
