I agree. Someone had a signature that read: "Therapists are experts at developing therapeutic relationships." If you can't win a patient's trust, you're in the wrong business.

I think it was Granite's T who found that talking was not enough. So she had Granite sit on the floor next to her and draw. Winning trust often means thinking outside the box, and sometimes even breaking the rules.
