Sabrina - some people just aren't comfortable giving compliments. My ex-husband was like that -- couldn't give me a compliment if his life depended on it. I never heard the words "pretty" or "beautiful" or "I'm proud of you", and I looked a hell of a lot better than I do now. Conversely, my (new) husband says those things all the time, and he says them with sincerity. I think it has less to do with you/us than it has to do with him/them.
