Do you have any tranquilizers or other calming meds? If so, take one, even if you are off schedule with it. Then phone your pdoc and tell him/her what is going on. Have you changed meds recently? Or could this be a manic episode? I know I can get bit*hy and irritated and slam things around when manic. Keeping to yourself is good so that you don't do harm to anyone, but don't isolate to the extent that it makes you feel worse. You can get stuck in your head with your thought going obsessively around about how awful you feel, and that just makes you more agitated.
Do you have a TV or some computer games you can play to occupy yourself while you get thru this? Can someone sit with you (spouse?) to get your mind off things, who wouldn't take your mood personally?
A warm bath might also help, with some relaxing music, if you have it.
