Do you see a therapist?

It does sound like you're rapid cycling, but I think that a good therapist could help you cope with the rapid cycling without resorting to more medication....or temporary increases in medication which you can later drop. Seeing a therapist when you experience frequency the mood swings is IMPORTANT. Bipolar and eating disorders are two totally different ball games and the ways to cope with them are different. There is no doubt about that. I am really against over-medication and the problem with taking medication is our body grows tolerance so more of the substance has to be used for the same effect. That's why if you do increase, I recommend trying to drop down immediately after the mood swing passes with permission of your doctor. I'm currently lowering my lithium dose again after a hypomanic episode.
