I don't have psychosis, but I'm on abilify for my hair-pulling (trichotillomania). It has stopped my hair-pulling completely. I don't have any side effects as far as I can tell. I'm on a low dose (4 mg), although I have taken 8 mg in the past, and I don't think I had any side effects on that dose either.
I think it's a great anti-psychotic. It doesn't cause weight gain, sedation, or tardive dyskinesia in the vast majority of people. I think almost anyone who needs to be on an anti-psychotic should at least try abilify. It's one of those meds that is just worth a try, because the side effect profile is so small for most people. I think it's just a fantastic med, personally.
