Complete absence of cravings. Perhaps not coincidentally, there is no liquor to be had where I work. Whatever the case, I am happily rid of the little devil on my shoulder. It's clear to me it's largely a psychological ailment I have, rarely physical. So at the moment, I feel comfortable calling alcoholism not a disease but a recurring affliction. Semantics maybe but I would be embarrassed to call what I have a disease. A disease is often something you can't cure, whereas it's quite obvious that obsession with a drink can be dealt with, as a common cold can be dealt with.
