Hi. My name is Ann. Some people know me as Snowbird. But I don't care who knows my name any more.

People make fun of me at school too. They call me "shock head" because I have really curly hair. I'm not cool. But I am very smart. They can never take that away from me. They took away everything else.

I know it's hard. They made fun of me in school and when I go home, bad things. And my sisters make fun of me. They even tied me to a post.

I would like to be your friend. You don't have to be anything or look a certain way or do certain things, or wear certain clothes. I know that it is what is inside that counts. I have to believe that because I know there is something special inside and I hope someday I have the freedom to show it.
