I've been cutting (and biting, and digging fingernails into skin) since I was 14. I'm now in my 30's. I feel like it's time to "grow up" and stop doing these things. When I Googled cutting- almost everything is geared toward teenagers. I'm a mom. My daughter sees a bandage on my arm and sometimes scars. She's 11. I always tell her some excuse (a cat or dog, a fence, work, etc...). I'm worried she's getting old enough to see past that and I feel horribly lying to her but I feel like it's better she doesn't know the truth.

Are there other parents out there that cut? How do you handle your kids' questions?
