ARRGGGHHH! How well I know about being awakened by critters! Last night my darn cat woke me up by clawing on the window screen!  Don't have a clue why he was doing that -- he never did that before! I could have killed him -- but he's too cute. 
You're right tho -- it's hard enough getting to sleep in the first place when you're in pain. Then some critter has to spoil things.
