I...think he sees you in a different light than you see him, to be rather blunt.
I think the best thing to do would to tell him firmly no, and that you're not comfortable with it. That doesn't have to necessarily hurt your friendship with him, but he needs to understand that you want a friendship with him. Nothing more.
