Any nurse working with people who have psychological issues which they know you have otherwise you wouldn't be having ECT.....should definitely be more sensitive about what they say.
The thing is that anyone who doesn't have a clue about anorexia that is the first comment they usually say because they can't understand how anyone can just NOT EAT.....& their lack of understanding comes out through their comments. Guess we need to be as understanding about their lack of understanding as we want them to be understanding about our struggles. In otherwords.....just blow it off to their lack of understanding & don't let it bother you. It's impossible to educate everyone on the struggles with anorexia, so it's not worth getting upset over. He is going on with his work never thinking twice about the conversation with you.....& you are the one allowing yourself to be upset by it & stewing over a conversation that is over & done with.
I found with situations like that, I think about the response I would have liked to say & be prepared for if I get a similar response in the future......like commenting: "if it was that easy, I would have done that in the first place."
