We run into a nearby home and ask if we can hide in there, they said we could. We kept hearing the roar of the tornado while we searched the house for a place to hide.
What do you think a dream like that might mean? Again, where I live we don't actually have tornadoes, the worst we'd have is a dust storm.

I have tornado dreams at least 2-3 times a WEEK. It is a recurring dream with different variations. Here is what dreammoods.com says about it:

Tornados
To see a tornado in your dream suggests that you are experiencing some extreme emotional outbursts and temper tantrums. Is there a situation or relationship in your life that may be potentially destructive?
To dream that you are in a tornado means that you are feeling overwhelmed and out of control. Your plans will be filled with much complications and you will be met with a series of disappointments.
To see several tornadoes in your dream represent people around you who are prone to violent outbursts and shifting mood swings. It may also symbolize a volatile situation or relationship.

For me, I know it means my feelings seem out of control, or a situation that I am not in control over. To see multiple tornadoes means there are people who are out of control and maybe want to hurt you. When I've seen multiple ones, I think it is symbolic of my parents being abusive when I was younger.
