I joined the military when I was 17 and was part of the very first female basic training at Fort Leonardwood Missouri. I got injured in basic about a week in but continued trying my best and did graduate with my company but was held as a hold over because I was still injured at the end. I was on and off crutches because as I found out later I had torn the meniscus in my knee. Well the other girls believed that I was faking it so I started getting threatened constantly by my fellow platoon members. I was threatened with blanket parties constantly. I was told that I would be gotten in the showers, bathroom anywhere. I was constantly in fear of being beaten. The other girls would hide my crutches and just generally made my life a living hell. To this day I have flashbacks in the showers so I avoid them which I am not proud to admit. Did anyone else experience trauma at the hands of fellow soldiers?
