Hello all.
I am seeking advice and maybe support relating to my current situation. I believe my partner may be suffering from depression. His personality has seen a drastic change over the last 8 weeks. Once a pleasant, engaging, talkative, funny person, he has become withdrawn, quiet, withholding and unaffectionate. One of his major personality traits, one that I loved, was his meticulous and tidy nature. Never one to be messy, I now find piles of his clothes all over our apartment. Garbage piles up, dishes are left in the sink for days, weeks. He has withdrawn from his friend group as well, and when he does see them, describes their company as "boring". As for our relationship, affectionate behavior is only coming from me. He turns his head when I lean in for a kiss, and tolerates a hug. It's hard not to take it personally, but so many other facets of him have changed, it can't just be me. He mentioned "not being happy" and "feeling lost" and maybe spending some time apart weeks ago, but then never brought it up again. When I tried to bring it up, he shut down and asked to talk about it another time. This man does not lack in the love and support department, at least not from me.

My questions are:
Is this depression?
Am I doing all I can, should I do more or less?
Is there hope?

Additional Information:
*He is currently in school, unemployed and not seeking employment.
*He has previously been treated for social anxiety disorder.
