My protector wasn't trying to protect me from emdr he was trying to protect me from feeling emotional pain. I does seem that my emdr session did relieve me of the emotional pain that I had when I thought about a specific event. I now remember the event and I know that at that time I was afraid and ashamed that I did not help my sister. But I don't have the intense bad painful feelings that would accompany the memory. I understand I was too young to help my sister and right to feel afriad about the event. I think emdr helped to release me of the intense feelings but able to recall the event as an adult that is safe from the event.
