The way I understand it, the meds do not cause the suicidal tendencies. People who are very depressed and suicidal may not try it because they are so depressed that they have no energy, so they don't act on it. With or without meds, when this person starts to recover and get a little bit of energy back, but still are not feeling all that good yet, that is when there is the most risk for suicide. So it is important for people who are starting to recover from depression to be monitored.
If you are thinking about suicide or are worried about it, you should talk to your doctor about it. But if you aren't suicidal, I don't think that you need to be overly concerned about the new warning.
