It's really hard to give any advice or ideas as to what your male friend's problem is (was). Different medications are tried for a variety of disorders. Some people are on high dosages, which cause minimal changes. Other people go through huge changes on high and low dosages.

I think that taking a relationship on the web seriously to be pretty dangerous. Not necessarily in a physical way (although it is a possibility if too much info is shared), but certainly emotionally. You can't pick up on tone of voice changes, facial expressions, how hard they're pressing keys, etc. Who knows what they're feeling?? We have to take what they say at face value. Some people take advantage of this, and play games with others. I've seen it a couple of times ~ always painful and very confusing. Times like those scare me & encourage me to pull away more.

Personally, I'd seriously advise you to NOT to develop any deeply personal relationships on the web. Unless you're working through some site that kind of oversee's the safety, avoid it! Like match.com (and others like that) probably have some types of safeguards up to prevent people from going haywire online and saying all sorts of baloney and hurting others to be malicious.

Gentle hugs sent your way. Sorry that you're so confused and in such pain. It is a hard reality.
