I don't know. I think there's a world of difference between pointing out that someone who says "All pdocs are X" or "All T's are Y" might have some distorted thinking going on and saying "Therapy is the only hope." The fact is that therapy
can be a good place to work on distorted thinking. No one's saying that other places or methods won't work.
I don't think that any of us knows more than our own experience and (possibly slanted, usually limited) research indicates. I've seen 3 Ts in my life. I really don't feel qualified to comment on all Ts because of it. I highly doubt that even someone who's seen 20 or 50 or 100 is qualified, either. (Certainly there are more than 100 therapists in my city alone.)
I do feel like I'm qualified to say that my therapy is working for me, even though sometimes much of our time is spent working out our relationship, even potential love feelings/wishes. Those wishes come from somewhere, right? If they're there and they're an obstacle or a benefit or whatever, they can be useful.
Different strokes for different folks, no?
