In Kansas when you apply for Social Security, you can then go on a temporary state program that gives you cash, food stamps, and Medicaid. It's meant to be a stop gap while you wait for Social Security to come through for you. Anyway the medical benefits can go back 60 days before the date of application. If you have the same thing in Texas, it might help with that bill. Of course, my son didn't have any health insurance at that time. Sounds like you're on your dad's policy? I don't know how that would work.
