I agree with stopdog. T's seem to be knowledgeable about how to build rapport with their clients, and from reading these forums it looks like there are lots of different ways to do that. My T has done something similar to the OP's, but I can't remember what it was.

I think it's a positive thing as long as it seems and feels sincere.
