I remember how difficult it was to stop. Try stopping with someone competing with you. I worked on it competing with my sister, and both of us stopped rather than give in to the other! I look back on it as fun. Each day we would call to see if the other one had slipped and smoked! I used hard candy, too, to stop the cravings--which lasted only about one week when substituting the candy. (Then, I had to learn to stop the candy!)

Now, when I have reason to have a chest X-ray done, my lungs are clear with no
evidence of emphysema there. Thank goodness we stopped. (And that was years ago.)

For encouragement read the 1963 Attorney General's Report on the long-term effects of smoking. That will make your hair stand on end practically! I have a family friend who died from emphysema; the last time I saw him he was propped up on
pillows in the intensive care unit at a hospital with face mask on to get oxygen.

Please strive to end your smoking; it's worth every pain you experience in breaking the addiction.
