i have read it. i found parts of it to be quite good, and parts of it to be not quite so good (as i find most books lol).

there were some good insights about some things, and it can help one to feel less alone and a bit more understood (in reading about the case studies, for example).

on the downside i did find the book to be a little judgemental in places (which is my main criticism of most of the bpd literature). i think that it can be positively harmful to take some of those negative judgements on board.

i would say that with that book (and indeed with all books) take what helps and leave what harms.

the book is outdated now in the sense of its treatment reccomendations. the author is an advocate for psychodynamic modes of psychotherapy and he talks about likely treatment outcomes of modes of therapy that aren't practiced so much any more... in short, there is a lot more hope for a recovery far swifter than he could conceive of...

but i enjoyed it and think it is well worth a read yeah.
