I think distractions are things we do deliberately to get away from something else; presumably we would pick something we enjoy doing more than whatever it is we want to get away from. What kind of experience we will have though, we cannot predict before we have it; I can pick a boring distraction, for example or, when I finally am doing what I'm avoiding (procrastination), I might find that what I am avoiding is not at all unpleasant. So, the action and the experiencing of the action are two different things. In actuality, you are distracting yourself from your own perception of how you think something is/will be. That's why it is not a good idea because you are putting yourself at one remove from experience, not having an experience at all, just the thoughts and feelings about previous experiences. If you forget about why you are distracting yourself, then you open yourself to experiencing what is happening in the moment (eurovision) and, since you were looking for something better than what you thought you had, it's a good experience.
