I've read that many times too and I completely agree. I think my T uses a combination of methods, and I'm sure many do. I wouldn't have chosen her based on her primary theoretical orientation. It's definitely worked because she's great, whatever methods she chooses to use. I'm she sure she'd stop doing something if she saw it wasn't working for me, and I'm guessing most T's are able to do that. I think it's the person behind it who matters, unless their views fundamentally conflict with your own.
