Sorry but does that mean that if you *don't* press charges that person will leave you alone? How can the professionals be sure??

I am aghast that this is their solution i.e. not to press charges. Nowadays, it seems that 'criminals' can get away with anything, get more help and support etc. than the persons they hurt.

Isn't there anything you could do to ensure that person is locked for good. Surely, there must be some laws that actually protect people....? Sorry for what you are going through though, it must not be easy at all.
