Yes, neurfeedback works nicely. Calm, focus and reducuction of psychiatric symptoms are the typical benefits. You won't be asked questions to challenge or stimulate problems, it doesn't work that way. Don't worry about unlocking demons. Neurotherapists are aware that can be a problem and know how to show you how to balance and harmonize the brainwaves in a natural and organic way.
Some neurofeedback therapists will get more history than others. Do what is comfortable for you. At least tell them that there is a history of childhood trauma. At the right time you may get alpha/theta training that will resolve those issues for you.
