Carla, you HAVE THE STRENGTH. Don't let "him" tell you that you don't. You DO have the strength!! You can do ANYTHING you want to do!!!
I too was afraid of my husband almost 20 years ago -- he kept threatening me, he was abusive, etc. I was VERY afraid of him and I'd already stayed with him for 26 years!!! But finally I'd had enough -- and I LEFT. He STALKED me for a year; he phone me every night, all night. The police didn't do anything -- he bought a house just around the corner from me.  So finally I moved out of town! He didn't know where I went.  That was the end of that.
You CAN do this. You CAN get away! You HAVE the strength!!! YOU have to believe it sweetie.  God bless. Hugs, Lee
