I find it so bizarre that families/friends/society don't accept that a person may suffer from bipolar. Bipolar has been around for so long!!! I know having my mom accept my bpd was a tough one but she readily accepted my bp. It is just so strange that ppl don't accept something that someone one suffers from. I didn't say to my grandmother "No I don't accept that you are dying of cancer, it has to be something else or it's in your head".
Furthermore why is it their place to accept or not anyways? You let them know because you need support, they need some idea of why your behaviors are the way they are. I can't see any other reason why they would need to know. If they can't be happy with you letting them in on your issues then let them keep their heads in the sand where it belongs. Grrrr lol
