From my experience, the human failure to hand out justice for the benefit of all arises from the selfishness of those few who have a greater need to cover up their wrongs and their connections to "bad" people so they can keep their ill-gotten gains flowing. No matter what the pain, physical or psychological to others. It is only with the threat of publicity, does the selfless fair impartial benefits for society as a whole come to the fore and as the wounded as individuals themselves get any validation, that yes indeed they had suffered and that the perpetrator was the bad person not they the victim. It usually only happens after many years of suffering if it happens at all. In most cases the wounded must try to believe from an utter dark soundless briny deep that they did nothing wrong while watching the perpetrator get fat from the drippings of a very flawed and selfish society. A very flawed system, created and run by the most flawed of human beings--those that have the most to lose.
Vengeance must be kept inside as a fantasy only to be indulged as a secret toy one can not share for fear of being locked up. Simply for having a completely normal feeling toward someone who has hurt and abused them, and then gets to dance free. It may be selfish but society has left the victim with little other recourse.
He is correct, it is flawed, because humans are flawed, I see no reason to live down to that, we can change and grow. Humans have always had the abilty to grow.
