Oh gosh -- I know what you mean. Those "kinds" of people are very unpleasant, and usually THEY are the ones who are the most bigoted!
I"m not prejudiced AT ALL either, but when I was working I had to deal with semi-public too. And it can be very difficult.  You are as professional as you can be, and do your BEST to treat everyone as an equal because that's how I FEEL But there's always those people who pull that race card on you, and -- that always FLOORED me! 
I guess you just do the best you can, but it sure can mess up a perfectly good day. I understand where you're coming from. You just have to hold your ground -- if you make an exception for one, you're done!
