I went to a hospital in Maryland that had a wing that specialized in ED, not to a ranch or anything like that.
It was very helpful and I am still working on staying "recovered," but I will tell you that my willingness to get better played a great part in keeping from sliding back. If you have a support person you can talk to that helps too...
Anyway, to your question. Lots of therapy: group therapy, music therapy, individual therapy, and some family therapy too, depending on your situation. The first few days you are there, they check vitals every 2 hours or something like that. At meals, you have to eat a certain amount of calories/type of food on the menu or you get a supplement, which of course, ensures you get the nutrition you need. They supervise you all the time to make sure you are not sneaking in exercise.
Once you are stabilized and show progression in therapy/emotionally, (which is different for everyone of course), and they think you are ready to transition to intensive outpatient, they send you on little outings...like you go eat somewhere with a family member or something who can supervise you. This kind of gauges how the "outside world" affects you.
Your length of stay depends on your emotional progress and your physical progress as well. I was inpatient for a month, intensive outpatient for 3 weeks, I think, then went back home for outpatient work. But again, your stay is individualized.
At the time, I don't think I realized how much I needed the help. I really hope it goes well for you, and if you want to PM me at all, feel free, I will be happy to answer any more questions...of course you can post here tho too and I will answer as well. When do you leave for Inpatient?
Good luck and hugs to you
