I am so sorry for your husband and his family.

But let me say going off your meds because of weigh gain (if they were helping you cope better and this were their only side effect) is quite- I don't know how to say it without offending you and I really don't want to offend you, just offering my opinion- but I think it's a bit stupid and selfish on your part- your H needs you desperately right know- these ppl are his family.
Weight gain on most meds IS manageable through strict diet and exercise- some meds (like hormones) really can made you gain weight (mostly by water retention) but it's "only" around 10 pounds. However, what some other drugs do is that they make you want to eat more (but you don't have to). It's a common myth that some ADs can magically make you obese.
Think what's more important now some pounds or helping someone you love that need you now?
