Hello.

I really dont know what to do now! Quick overview:

B/f & me broke up after 2 yrs.

Continued with (a little) strained friendship - needed each other/missed each other.

His mother died very recently. Made us realise how much we really cared & we have started to re-establish r/ship.

Today I picked up his phone, and read his text messages. I had no 'suspicions', but felt compelled to do it - I know it's wrong. I wish I hadn't.

I saw a message from an ex-g/f of his - I did not know they are were in touch. She is in a happy r/ship. The message made me realise that he had been out with her and her family one night last week. (He hasnt seen her for years) He told me about this night, but when he told me, he said he had been out with housemates. He chose to tell me this - he had no reason to mention the night at all, I had not questioned him about anything.

I do not understand: a. Why he felt he had to tell me about the occasion at all. And, b. Why he told me a lie.

I cannot ask him why, as I read his phone. I broke the trust by doing this, but he has lied, for no reason. I want to forget ths, but it's bothering me a lot.

Very confused. My thoughts are to just try to forget it and carry on working things out.

What would you do?
