This may well be a silly question, but have you tried any Distress Tolerance skills? Sometimes it seems like nothing's working at all, but if you keep trying different things, you usually find something eventually works.
Sometimes holding/squeezing ice can be the one thing that shifts your focus and brings you back into the present!
