This is great for everyone -- not just alcoholics. I know when I first got sober, I didn't have a clue how to "live life on life's terms." Living day to day is what I had trouble with. The little daily "challenges" are what tripped me up. I could handle ANY crisis - those didn't bother me. But not the day to day stuff. I was just like my mother -- I had to drink to get thru each day.
I found I was inviting misery, and it seemed I preferred it that way. At least I thought so - until I joined AA and they showed me I didn't have to live that way. I didn't know I had choices before - - sounds unbelievable, but it's true.
Even after all these years, I still strive for progress. I have much to learn.
